The Lead Apostle at the Altar during the divine service
11 May 2021

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bond and influence of mothers in society. To show the love and respect to the mothers, the Lead Apostle Nwogu, Apostle Rotimi, enthusiastic Retired Apostle Omeh and District elder Ambrose together with many ministers and brothers in Abuja Central church, Abuja, Nigeria celebrated this most special day with lots of fun activities and some memorable performances.

Mothers came up with their presentation of songs, rhymes and dance to convey gratitude to God for His unconditional love. The moms as well as the ministers and brothers had a splendid time together in various fun games planned by the organizers. It was a pleasure watching the super excited moms with their dynamic and energetic husbands during these activities. Mother carried back home little token of love made by the ministers and brothers which filled the air with heart-warming feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation.

During the service, the lead Apostle read a text word from Luke 6:40 “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.”

In his elaboration, the lead apostle said: We are disciples of Jesus. Having answered His call, we follow His teaching, conform our life to it and serve our teacher.

In a special message to all present, the lead apostle said:  "As we are celebrating mother's day today, those that don't have mother now should not be worried because we have a mother congregation that is caring, loving and is also teaching us to be like our perfect teacher who is Jesus Christ."

On the main message of the bible text the lead apostle explained three key points to the brethren.

We are not above our teacher.

He said this text is a consolation. In difficult times, we may doubt God’s love. Let us remember that Jesus was the beloved Son of God. The Father’s love was not meant to save Him from suffering, but to help Him overcome it. We are not above Jesus: like Him, we are exposed to the sufferings inherent in human nature. Like Him, we must believe in God and trust Him.

We must be perfectly trained

To be perfectly trained, the disciple must know the teaching, understand it and know how to put it into practice. Knowledge can be acquired by listening to the preaching of the gospel and reading the Bible…

We can become like our teacher

What a beautiful promise: Christ is our future, we can become like Jesus! Needless to say, we will never be able to attain His perfection. We will remain sinners until the end. On the other hand, if we allow ourselves to be perfectly trained, we will be able to love God and trust Him like Jesus, and, like Him, remain in control of our destiny in all circumstances!

Apostle Rotimi assisted in this divine service.
