2019 Thanksgiving at Ho-Central, Ghana, with Apostle Osei (left)
2 October 2020

Our offerings to the Lord, Our Heavenly Father, attracts His blessing. If we follow the advice of the psalmist Asaph and “offer to God thanksgiving” and “pay our vows to the Most High”, He “will show us the salvation of God” (Psalm 50:14,23).

In Genesis 28:20-22, Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on…then the LORD shall be my God.” This was Jacob’s as prayer on his mission to find a wife and return to his father’s household; a mission that became one of an escape for his life from his father in-law, and of fear of his brother (Essau’s) revenge for stealing his (Essau’s) blessings. The Lord indeed kept and protected Jacob and when the time came “…Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept (Genesis 33:4)”.

A few months ago, the world over, and all New Apostolics, prayed to God to keep, protect and deliver us from this pandemic. When the time came, we can also now celebrate divine services despite the prevalence of the pandemic; the Lord, as ever, has been faithful.

The month of October brings forth a special celebration for New Apostolic members where sincere offerings of thankfulness are made. The blessings in this offering rests in how the offering is made. Everything that we give to the Lord must be of our own free will and with joy.

This year, 2020, has been a very strange yet interesting year. The spread of COVID-19 and its many negative effects on the globe and church coupled with the numerous natural disasters has made it a difficult year. Notwithstanding, the Lord has kept us right from January to this day! We have enjoyed Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Confirmation services and also interceded for the departed despite the corona virus. The Lord has been good!

To be alive is indeed a great blessing and we cannot take this gift for granted. As we step deeper into the month of October, we can only prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate and give thanks to the Almighty God on the first Sunday of October.

We shall thank the Lord for His many mercies and protection. Just as many of us prayed the Jacob prayer in the early part of the year, being alive to this day can only be a manifestation of His protection over us.

It will only be right for us to also show special appreciation and gratitude to Our Maker on 4th October 2020 – the event of our 2020 Thanksgiving Divine Service.
