The joy of the brethren in Ekit Itam congregation of Afaha Ube District knew no bounds as Apostle Effiong Ekpenyong of South Central Area of Nigeria conducted a divine service there on Sunday, 16th August 2020.
This was a rescheduled service as a result of the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
The apostle who was joyfully received on arrival read a text word from 1John 5:7-8 "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: The Spirit, the water and the blood and these three agree as one."
In his exhortation the apostle whose main emphasis was on the ’four corner-stones of the gospel' specifically addressed the fundamental significance and redemptive power of the three holy sacraments which illuminates our life of faith.
He reminded the brethren that there are three that bear witness in heaven: The Father, the word and Holy Spirit, likewise three that bear witness on earth: The Spirit, the water and the blood and these agree in one.
The Apostle further said that sacraments have their source in Christ and lead us salvation.
Concluding he said the water can be seen in reference to holy baptism, the blood to Holy communion and the Spirit to the gift of the Holy Spirit. He insisted that if we consciously obtain the salvation at work in the sacraments it will have effects for our life as a whole.
District Elder Armstrong Inyang and District Evangelist Ini Akpan also served along.
