The quiet community of Jesse Okuno in Ethiope West local government area of Delta State was besieged with a lot of visitors on Friday, 17th July 2020 as late Apostle Paul Ufuoma Ogboru, aged 62, was laid to rest amidst mixed feelings in his country home. The late Apostle Paul Ogboru had led the South-South area of Nigeria for the last four years as an Apostle.
People from all walks of life were on hand to pay their last respect to a man described as dedicated, transparent and hardworking, whose sweet memories adorned our hearts.
Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu, accompanied by all Apostles and Bishops in Nigeria and their wives, officiated the funeral service.
He drew a text from 2 Timothy 4:7 – 8, ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith...’
In his homily, the Lead Apostle, who described the gathering as very solemn, reminded all that God is the author of all things who does whatever pleases Him and therefore urged everyone to be quiet and know that He is God.
He eulogised the late Apostle as a friend, brother and true Apostle of Christ who had worked tirelessly with great love preparing the bride of Christ in the circle of the Apostles.
He recalled the many battles of faith the deceased had fought and the race he had undertaken. Even in his trying moments, he never denied the faith describing him as a prayerful Apostle.
More so, he fought evil and sin consistently while proclaiming the eternal message of salvation.
He further said the late Apostle Ogboru had procured eternal treasures for himself and what awaits him is a crown of righteousness which is eternal fellowship with God.
Lead Apostle Nwogu assured mourners that the soul and spirit of the deceased is in a place of divine peace and security as all his labours and pains are over.
Finally, he charged all to work out our soul salvation, so that at the return of Jesus Christ we will be reunited with the late Apostle and also share in the everlasting fellowship with him. He prayed for the power of the Holy Spirit to comfort the bereaved family and respected mourners.
Apostle Effiong Ekpenyong assisted at the altar.
