Sunday 16th February 2020 was a special day for the brethren in the central church Ikot Abia Edem in South East Nigeria and Asakpo Congregation in Badagry, Lagos, West-Nigeria. These 2 congregations received their respective Apostles on a special visit.
Love Your Neighbour
At Ikot Abia Edem, Apostle Usoro brought the message of “Christian Love” to the brethren by reading a text word from Galatians 5: 14, ‘For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”’
In his message, the Apostle said that in keeping the commandments to love God and our neighbours, we are fulfilling both the law and the Gospel.
In conclusion he said: “The law provides guidance in life, the gospel testifies of salvation in Christ and the standard for our own actions is the commandment to love God and our neighbour.”
The Calling of the Faithful
At Asakpo Congregation in Badagry District West Nigeria, Apostle Nwanza served the brethren with a text word from Mark 3:13, ‘And He went up on the mountain and called to Him Those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.’
In his message the Apostle told the brethren that our Lord Jesus Christ called the twelve Apostles and sent them out with divine authority. He told the brethren that, just like the Apostles, we too were able to hear the call, we opened our hearts to this call and made a decision to follow Jesus Christ.
While referring to the gospel of John 17, he said: “Jesus prayed for Himself, the disciples and the believers as He affirmed their calling and commission in the saying, ‘As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.’” The Apostle told the brethren that our calling is special and we must cherish it. Making a reference from the book of Paul to the Romans 10:14-15, he inspired the brethren in his conclusion by saying “…We have believed, we have heard and we have been sent.”
