Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who we believe is the Son of God. Different choirs from the various congregations and districts of New Apostolic Church in Nigeria, were not left behind during this period. They joined other brethren during this Christmas season to render songs of praise and worship to the glory of God and for His kindness and love to mankind.
The celebrations were met with Christmas Concerts all around the Apostle areas, with performances in both English and other African dialects from across the country.
In Lagos, Apostle Nwanza opened the event with an opening prayer, just like Apostles Odili in South and Ekpenyong in South Central did.
The choirs from the various congregations and districts sang traditional English carols and also, African Christmas songs in Yoruba, Igbo and other languages were performed much to the delight of the guests who joined in singing the choruses.
On Wednesday 25th December 2019, Christmas divine services were held in most congregations in Nigeria. In summary, the message of Christmas to thousands of our members from the Chief Apostle was on the theme, God’s kindness and love for mankind.
This message was inspired by the text word Titus 3:4-5a, ‘But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy…’
In the key note message across divine services in Nigeria, congregants were urged to remember the kindness, love and mercy of God towards mankind. If we take the message of Christmas seriously, we will endeavour to resist everything that runs contrary to God’s love for mankind!
