To give a chance to the brethren in Nigeria to witness and see the retirement of Apostle Volker Kühnle and Apostle Wolfgang Zenker via live transmission divine service by the Chief Apostle was a wonderful Christmas gift.
At half past 9 in the morning, on Sunday 8th December 2019, many congregations in Nigeria were connected live to Germany to participate in this divine service conducted by Chief Apostle Jean Luc Scheneider in our Fellbach Church in South Germany.
The Chief Apostle read a text word from John 1:15, ‘John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.”’
In his message, the Chief Apostle said: “John the Baptist was sent by God to proclaim the coming of the Messiah, to prepare the way for Him, then, when the time came, to testify that Jesus was the Son of God. We too are called to prepare the way for the Lord.”
Like John the Baptist, we are called to proclaim Christ, to testify of His presence and to smoothen the way for others to come to Him.
We must prepare ourselves for divine services by uniting ourselves to Christ. We must prepare for His return by developing our trust in God, our love, and our willingness to serve. We must help our neighbour to come to Christ.
As part of the service, the Chief Apostle retired Apostle Volker Kühnle who served in Nigeria for over 17 years as a Lead Apostle.
