The youth listening to the legend of the Olumo Rock
10 September 2019

The West youth convention program was concluded with a visit to the famous Olumo Rock. This is a mountain in south-western Nigeria. It is located in the ancient city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was historically used as a natural fortress during inter-tribal warfare in the 19th century. It is believed by the indigenes that its patron spirit is venerated in the Yoruba religion as an orisha (Yoruba tribe spirit).

The Lead Apostle Nwogu, Apostles Nwanza, Ekpenyong, Onwukwe, Apostle Hagher (retired), Bishops Udombang and Adelabu accompanied the youth who were more than excited to visit the most talked rock in Abeokuta.

At the Olumo Rock tourist site, the youth received a lecture concerning the Yorouba Kingdom and their influence due to their good education and a well-structured culture.  Climbing to the peak of the Olumo Rock, the youth were able to see the very first church, school and mosque built in Western Nigeria.
