Calisthenics art by the youth during sport activities
1 September 2019

It is obvious that sports and games play a unifying role in the life of human beings. This manifested itself on the 2nd day, precisely 24th August 2019, of the West-Area youth convention tagged held at Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The youth in their hundreds filed out early in the morning to welcome Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu and his entourage at the Abeokuta Grammar School stadium. The Lead Apostle, together with the Apostles, watched in awe the various talents displayed by the young people. Activities included calisthenics art, relay race, football match and other outdoor activities.

The high point of the exercise was the novelty football match between ministers and young sisters where Apostle Oscar Nwanza was one of the players while Bishop Ime Udombang was the centre referee.

At the end of the activities, Lead Apostle Nwogu, assisted by Apostles Effiong Ekpenyong and Nwanza, decorated the winners with medals while Apostle Emmanuel Hagher (Rtd) presented the trophies to the winners of the football matches. The greatest joy of day was the show of love and spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by losers as they all embraced and celebrated with the winners.

In the evening, the Lead Apostle presented a seminar on “The Place of Youth in the Future of New Apostolic Church in Nigeria.” He emphasized the need for the youth to sit up as future leaders and reminded them of the different platforms available including seminars, teachings, youth meetings, fellowships and divine services.

Finally, he cautioned that only informed youth will remain in the teachings, doctrine and fellowship of our church insisting that they must avail themselves to all the opportunities, to take their rightful place.

The evening was rounded off with bible and doctrinal quiz where Lagos District came up tops followed by Otta and Abeokuta districts respectively. Indeed, sports enhances richness in the love of Christ.
