Over 200 district youth and their leaders from the East Central Apostle Area (Nigeria) gathered at the Owerri Central Church for their annual youth convention. This was held from the 21st – 23rd September 2018, under the theme, ‘Faithfulness To Christ’. Apostle Ernest was in attendance to grace the many activities lined up for the three days.
In the evening of Friday 21st, the youth gathered for fellowship which involved singing. There was also a choir competition among themselves.
On Saturday the 22nd, following an opening prayer and a short message of welcome and thankfulness to God by Apostle Ernest, the youth together with the Apostle went on an evangelism rally. Afterwards the youth gathered at the Central church to participate in workshops and seminars where some professionals took them through practical lessons on how to make special native soups, liquid soap as well as tie and dye cloths.
The evening was a memorable time for the youth as the Apostle was the quiz-master for a quiz competition based on the Our Community magazine, Catechism of New Apostolic Church and the Sermon on the Mount. It was an exciting and thrilling atmosphere as all the participants and even the audience were eager to answer all questions.
The convention closed on a special note with a divine service on Sunday based on Revelation 21:5 (NKJV), “Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” ”
In the sermon Apostle Ernest said that God is the Master Builder who in Christ has decided to erect His dwelling in us. He told the youth that God now sees us as part of His New Creation. Our faith in this building is made up of His Word, baptism, Holy Communion and Apostolic Fellowship.
The Apostle added that we are now coworkers in the vine yard of God and our mission is to help in evangelism, bringing the lost sheep as well as testifying of the marvelous work of our Lord Jesus Christ by being faithful to Him and proclaiming His return. He added that while we fulfill these tasks, we must control our behaviors and be led by the Holy Spirit so as to be an example to all in every situation of life.
