Saturday, 7th April, 2018 will remain evergreen in the minds of many especially the Apostle Effiong Ekpenyong’s family and New Apostolic faithfuls. On this day, Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu accompanied by other Apostles and Bishops in Nigeria to Uyo to officiate in the wedding ceremony of former Blessing Ekpenyong, the daughter of Apostle Ekpenyong and Obinwa Ifeanyi Godfrey.
The church auditorium in Four Towns, Uyo was full to capacity. The officiating Minister drew a text from Revelation 2:25 “But hold fast what you have till I come”. The Lead Apostle who described the event as a day of joy admonished the couple to adhere strictly to the ingredients and responsibilities of matrimony which includes love, service, patience and work. He described the man as the head and the woman, the heart. He further urged them to create room for intensive prayers, word of God, and conjugal fidelity for their marriage to succeed.
Apostles Samuel Usoro and Chima Ibekwe assisted during the service.
The ceremony was witnessed by Apostle Godday Odili from Benin City, and other dignitaries from within and outside Akwa Ibom State. A total of 1,321 members attended the service.
Two days earlier the traditional rites were performed at the residence of the Bride’s Parents, Apostle Ekpenyong at Ikot Obio Edim in Ibesikpo.
The next day on the 8th of April 2018, apostle Ekpenyong, the couple and family decided to give thanks for a successful wedding in his home congregation at Ikot Obio Edim. The Lead apostle read a text word from Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high Priest who does not sympathize with our weaknesses but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin”. In his sermon, our Lead Apostle said Jesus who is God’s incarnate, while on earth had experienced suffering, torture and subsequent crucifixion, sympathizes with us in our weaknesses and therefore is our advocate.
He further charged all presence to resist sin, reject the offers of the devil and allow ourselves to be prepared as the brides of Christ. 347 members were in attendance.
Apostle Ekpenyong expressed his gratefulness to God and all the guests for their esteemed presence for all the events.
