“Our diverse gifts should be to the edification of the church”
It was about 7.15 pm that our dear District Apostle Michael Ehrich and his wife landed at the Murtala Mohamed International Airport Lagos after over an hour delay. Looking strong and very ready for his 3-days visit to Nigeria.
On Friday 23rd March, 2018, he and lead Apostle Nwogu took a flight to the ancient city of Benin where he celebrated a divine service reading a Bible Text from 1 Corinthian 14:12.
"Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel"
In his message the district apostle asked the brethren to use their diverse gifts to the edification of the Church (Congregations).
He went on to say: “We shouldn't speak in tongues and make use of our gift and talents without those around us knowing what we are saying or doing and that we are a great blessing to brothers and Sisters in the Congregation”.
Just like Apostle Paul advised the people of Corinth in the time of old we are also being admonished today.
Part of the gifts given to us is the gift of Hope. We focus through hope expecting the return of our Saviour Jesus Christ who is the bridegroom of our soul.
We also have the gift of knowledge of the truth revealed to us through the Holy Spirit after we were sealed during our spiritual rebirth.
The gift of Love is also part of these gifts, (1 Cor 13:1-2).
Apostle Paul also told Timothy: ”For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
The District Apostle urged us to use these gifts of the spirit to the edification of the church and the glory of God almighty.
10 District Elders and 8 District Evangelists were ordained and attendance was 926.
