Sunday, January 2nd 2022 was the day set aside for the New Year's divine service around the world. During this divine service, the motto of the year “TOGETHER IN CHRIST”, was unveiled in almost all the congregations in Nigeria.
The biblical text in Acts 2:44 “Now all who believed were together and had all things in common.” Was used as the basis for this divine service.
When serving the brethren in the central church Abuja (North Apostle Area), Lead Apostle Nwogu said: As new Apostolic church members, we are preparing ourselves actively for the return of the lord. We believe that He will return soon in order to take us to Himself. However, He will not come for us as individuals, but as members of an assembly of believers who have come to unity in Christ, hence TOGETHER IN CHRIST which is the motto for the year 2022 should be our strength to accomplish this objective…
Apostle Nwanza who served in Lagos Central congregation (Lagos West District) admonished the brethren that: The triune God is the God of fellowship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who calls all people into fellowship with Himself. As Christians baptized with water and the Spirit, our greatest treasure is to answer the call of Christ and to be together with Him in the divine service. It is there that we share in His word, His grace, His body, and His blood. Together in Christ, we share our faith, our goal, and the same fight. It is in this fellowship we learn to live together, accepting the fact that we are different and looking beyond our generation, tradition, heritage, or even opinions. Christ calls us to serve together and to attend to the needs of our neighbours. Together we grow in the unity of Christ by overcoming our differences and taking on Christ’s nature. We become one body made up of many parts where Christ remains all in all. It is together in Christ where we receive what is essential for our salvation. While quoting one part of the opening hymn of the day “Hymn 342 Dear brothers and dear sisters” in verse 4 it says: The foe seeks to divide us…. So that we stand alone… The Apostle said: We are strengthened when we are together in Christ. Here, we battle the evil which only seeks to isolate, divide and separate us from this fellowship with Christ and one another…
After the New Year’s divine service, in the spirit of “Together in Christ” many congregations in the West Apostle Area came together sharing bread, drinks and experiences of faith…
