On Wednesday 31st July, 2024, Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu held a mid-week divine service at Ikeja congregation as part of his visit to the West Apostle working area in preparation for the golden jubilee celebration in October.

He based the text word of the Divine Service on Psalm 33: 18-19 “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.”

The Lead Apostle encouraged the congregants who were majorly young brothers and sisters who have travelled from the various districts and zones under Apostle Oscar Nwanza working area for the annual summer music camp to fear God in all they do. According to the Lead Apostle, no one can hide from God, and no one is overlooked. He said God has given all humans the ability to make free decisions (symbolized by the heart) and He judges them on how they use it.

Lead Apostle Nwogu emphasized that God has enabled the survival of the church of Christ for the past centuries despite the weakness of humans hence not even the persecutions of the Christians couldn’t prevent the spread of the gospel.

How does the fear of Got manifest?
The Lead Apostle went further to explain that in the old testament, God expected His chosen people to fear Him (Deut. 10:12) just as we His children in the new covenant are to be filled with fear of God. He said for us, the fear of God means showing:

Obedience: We recognize God’s sovereignty and submit to His will.

Humility: We know that God is perfect and are aware of our imperfections. We have understood that God is always greater than we can ever imagine.

Trust: We trust in His omnipotence (Psalms 33:9) and His words (verse 4). This trust is reflected in our hope.

The fear of God doesn’t make us immune to famine, but it does allow us to pass through it without it causing harm to our soul.

Apostle Oscar Nwanza was called to assist during the divine service. About 83 congregants, majority of whom were children, took part in the divine service which ended with beautiful rendition and orchestra performance
