The past week for the brethren in the South East working Area OF Apostle Usoro was a busy and joyous one. The Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu paid a two-day pastoral visit between Thursday 19th and Friday 20th September, 2024, a visit which coincided with their celebration of the church’s Golden Jubilee anniversary in Nigeria.
Divine services at Ikot Idem Udo and Ikot Akan Essiet districts
On Thursday 19th September, 2024, the Lead Apostle conducted a festive divine service at Okuobom congregation in Ikot idem udo District where he served God’s children with a text from 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” He was received by Apostle Usoro and his district rectors and deputies alongside the children choir.
Then on Friday 20th, September 2024, he visited Ikot Akan Essiet District to round up his two day pastoral visit where he commissioned a church building that was dilapidated for over thirty years but was renovated through the help of the mission. At the venue for the divine service were all the district’s ministers and the children who welcomed the Lead Apostle together with his host, Apostle Usoro with wonderful hymns and an Igbo cultural display and flower presentations.
During the Divine Service, the Lead Apostle served the congregants with a text from 2 Corinthians 7:1 ”Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” According to him, we must believe and trust the lord because his promises are true. A shepherd (Ibanga Usua) was also placed into retirement. About 358 participants attended the festive divine service.
Golden jubilee celebration with a difference
To commemorate the golden jubilee celebration, faithful brothers and sisters in the Area could be seen evangelizing and confessing their beliefs in the apostolic doctrine before passersby while on a road walk in the city of Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State. They also distributed the church souvenirs and our community magazines.
The climax was a festive Divine Service conducted on Sunday 22nd, September 2024 at the Area Headquarters by Apostle Samuel Usoro during which he served the jubilant congregants from Joshua 24:15. “And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Apostle Usoro laid more emphasis on Serving the LORD. Opined that “We must serve God in humbleness. According to him, we must set our priorities right and place God above all other things. He also asserted thus:” Above all, Prayer works”
During the Divine service, Apostle Usoro also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty for sustaining the church through these five decades of His Grace since 1974. Apostle Samuel Usoro while giving a brief of church in the South East working Area explained that the area came into being in 1989. He further expressed that the first Apostle was Apostle Ekanem who was ordained in the year 1989 by Chief Apostle Richard Fehr.
About 1344 members and 38 guests attended the service.
The Apostle concluded the events with an invitation of the public to join in the grand finale of the Anniversary in Lagos state from 24th-28th October 2024.
