District Apostle at the Altar during the festive divine service at Ikeja
30 October 2024

To conclude the activities marking the special moment of the 50th anniversary of New Apostolic Church in Nigeria, a divine service was held by District Apostle Michael Ehrich on October 27th at Ikeja Central Church in Lagos, Nigeria. This festive Divine Service was attended by all the Apostles and bishops (retired and active) with their wives. Also in attendance were Apostles Felicien Ebanga (Cameroun. Chi Nche(Cameroun), Salvado Obiang (Equatorial Guinea), Leghanza (Gabon) and Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo (Ghana)

The District Apostle read a text word from Matthew 14:30-31 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?

Reflecting on this scripture, the congregation was reminded of Apostle Peter’s bravery as he walked on water to meet Christ. Yet, when he shifted his focus from Jesus to the storm around him, he began to sink, prompting him to cry out for salvation. This story served as a powerful reminder of the importance of keeping our eyes on Christ.

Lead Apostle Geoffrey Nwogu, who assisted in the service, likened Peter’s experience to the many challenges and obstacles faced by the pioneers of the New Apostolic Church in Nigeria. Just as Peter was sustained by faith, the church has triumphed over trials by holding Christ as the foundation of its faith.

The congregation was encouraged to disregard the troubles and distractions of the world and keep their attention firmly on Christ.

During the service, several district rectors from various regions across Nigeria were retired and newly appointed, marking another significant moment for the church.

Among the service's highlights were marriage blessings for Lead Apostle Nwogu and his newlywed wife, a celebration of 40 years of marriage for retired Apostle Hagher and his wife, and 25 years for Apostle Nwanza and his wife.

The service concluded on a joyous note, with 1,417 congregants, who had traveled far and near working area, joining in the hymn, “Thank Ye the Lord,” a fitting close to a memorable 50th-anniversary celebration.
