Lead Apostle at the Altar during the divine service
17 January 2025

It was a blessing for the West working Area of Nigeria during the visit of the newly assigned Lead Apostle Oscar Nwanza to Ikeja Central Church, Lagos. The members of Lagos East and Lagos West districts in their numbers were earnestly waiting to receive the Lead Apostle and the newly ordained Apostle, Adeyemi Emmanuel Olaonipekun for West working area.

On 22nd, December 2024, the last Sunday of Advent, was filled with so much anticipation for Christmas that reminds us of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in a lowly state. Text word was taken from Isaiah 42: 9 "Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them." titled "The promise of the Saviour"

The Lead Apostle was happy to welcome the two districts, Choristers from nearby districts and applauded their sacrifices. In his message, “Behold, the former things have come to pass.” These words from the beginning of Isaiah 42: 9 are a reference to a fundamental element of salvation history, namely the divine promise and its fulfilment. The people of Israel were promised a homeland, a permanent place, a land flowing with milk and honey—which they ultimately reached. The second part of our Bible text refers to the future: “And new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42: 9). What are these “new things” that have been promised? Here we find the promise of a servant who would proclaim and uphold justice and righteousness (Isaiah 42: 1). God has “raised up a horn of salvation for us” (Luke 1: 69). The image of the horn symbolizes power and strength, and is a reference to Jesus, who will act with authority. A treated horn is being used by Africa for drinking palm-wine. It is also a symbol of authority in times of war. Jesus Christ is the source of salvation. It is no longer political or social issues that are at the heart of the promise of salvation, but the liberation of humankind from the power of sin and remoteness from God. It is only through His act of redemption that full access to the kingdom of God is possible.

In this divine service which was attended by 256 members, the lead Apostle ordained five deacons in which three of them were women.

After the festive divine service, the Christmas Carol involving five district performances took place. Every district sang beautifully to commemorate the birth of Jesus. A combined performance by all districts was filled with lots of merriment, ushering everyone to Christmas with fellowship among brothers and sisters wishing one another a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Advance
