On Sunday, April 20, 2025 the congregation of Obingwu in the Aba district welcomed the Lead Apostle Oscar Nwanza for the first time with great joy.
The ambassador of Jesus celebrated a divine service using a bible text from Mark 16:9-10 “Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.”
Befor Easter, the Lead Apostle had already conducted two divine services in Owaza and Owoelu congregations. He also led a meeting of district ministers and attended a choir concert. In his message: Faith is essential for our salvation. The Lead Apostle said: The resurrection of Christ is one of the central events in salvation history. Jesus Christ has overcome death and lives. This certainty strengthened the faith of the disciples and also constitutes the foundation of our faith. The resurrection indicates that Jesus truly is the Son of God, whose words and message is a divine truth.
The Lead Apostle went on to say that,
- As a sign of divine truth and love, Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God confirmed the truth of His teaching: The resurrection shows us that God’s love is greater than human sin and weaknesses. Jesus taught that true righteousness not only consists of outward obedience to the law, but of an attitude of faith and love. The resurrection therefore emphasizes that faith is not just a matter of observing rules, but of cultivating an intimate relationship with God…
- Salvation is eternal life and fellowship with God: The salvation that is revealed through the resurrection signifies eternal life and fellowship with God. It is not a guarantee for a life without suffering on this earth, but a promise for a new life in the kingdom of God…
- Overcoming evil with the power of love: The resurrection gives us the assurance that Jesus has won the victory over evil and death and that He will help us overcome the evil within us. This power that Christ gives us through His resurrection helps us to overcome our selfishness and the divisions between us in everyday life. The message of the resurrection is not only a call to faith, but also an appeal to love our neighbour and to overcome egocentricity. Those who follow Jesus become a new creation. And together with Him they can overcome their own weaknesses and the challenges of life.
- The mission of the Risen One: Whenever He appeared to His followers, the Risen Christ gave them a mission. He asked the women to announce His resurrection and instructed the Apostles to spread the gospel. He also calls upon us to proclaim the gospel to all, especially to those who mourn and weep (Mark 16: 10).
The Lead Apostle called Apostle Chima Ibekwe, District elders Ugochukwu and Stephen Onyebuchi as well as the Aba District Evangelist Ikenyi to serve along.
