Lead Apostle Nwanza Oscar at the altar
16 July 2025

It was a captivating experience at the dedication of Surulere congregation, Lagos West District during the Combined service on Sunday 13th July, 2025. Our Lead Apostle Nwanza together with Apostle Adeyemi and some District Rectors and their delegates were invited for this auspicious moment. Choristers and Orchestra from Lagos East District and Island District were also on ground.

The church entrance was unveiled by the Lead Apostle with the triune God and recognition given to members who took special roles: The Lead Apostle Nwogu ir (pioneered the project), Shepherd James, the contractor, Sister Damilola, the architect and the Lead Apostle Nwanza, in charge who took the care of the building and congregants into the hands of the Rector, Community Evangelist Ayo. The Lead Apostle took text word from Psalms 132 vs 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, for His dwelling place. Zion is where the Israelites go to meet God and encounter Him. Jesus said neither on Zion (the temple) nor mountain shall we worship the Lord but we shall worship Him in spirit and in truth to the woman of Samaria Luke 4: 23,24. The Lord has come into her heart through the rebirth out of water and Holy Spirit. We are children of God and the triune God dwells in us. Out of Zion sprang out many other places of worship. Surulere, as mother congregation represents Zion and out of who many other congregations across Nigeria sprang up, but now has its own Church building after 50 years on continued rentals. Special thanks to God for Apostle Gfeller ir and his dear wife Sister Claudine for their great contributions to where the New Apostolic Church has reached today and continues to grow. Recognition of other Apostles active and Rtd as well as other ministers, who could not be invited but contributed to the growth of Surulere congregation.

Brethren were admonished to do what will please God in the church and not what will please oneself. We need to come into God's house for His word, forgiveness of sins, to partake worthily of the Sacraments and to fellowship with Christ in the communion of the Holy Spirit. One of our Deacon received the ministry of a Priest. Afterwards, Lagos West presented musical instruments purchased to establish an orchestra in the district. There was appreciation by the Lagos West District of notable ministers who retired in ministry - D Ev Edobor (former district rector) and Late Shepherd Armstrong (former rector of Akowonjo) represented by his dear wife, sister Vine. It was a joyous moment as the event was concluded with a musical concert.

Special invitees were Lead Apostle Nwogu ir, Apostle Hagher ir, District Elder Omeh ir, District Elder Adeyemi ir (unavoidably absent), District Evangelist Edobor ir. Attendance was 174
