Freed from sin but slaves to God
On Sunday 7th September, 2025, Lead Apostle Oscar Nwanza conducted a festive Divine Service to conclude the 2025 youth convention in West Nigeria. In attendance, were all active Apostles in Nigeria. During the Service, the lead Apostle served the brethren with a text from Romans 6:22 "But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life." The lead Apostle expressed that we thank God for the most important things such as the sun, land, air and rain which are most essential. We also thank God for sending His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. He illustrated his sermon with a story of a slave in ancient Egypt. According to him, a slave owner wanted to sell one of his slaves (A black giant slave) to the highest bidder. Amongst the bidders was a particular white man who despite the slave owner's increasing the cost to a very high and "unreasonable" price still insisted on paying any amount to have the said slave. He'd rather serve his current master for his entire life than go to a desperate man who is willing to pay any price for a slave. At the end of everything the white acquired the slave but surprisingly announced that rather than continuing as a slave, the slave was now free: the price for his freedom has now been fully paid. The black giant slave out of gratitude, trust and humility went back to the white man and offered to be his slave (servant) this time not out of compulsion but of free will springing forth from a grateful heart. He expressed that just as the white man paid for the huge black slave's freedom, Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins to deliver us from sin and it's captivity. Apostle Adeyemi Emmanuel(host), Apostle Udoh(south)and Community Evangelist Omotoso Ebenezer were called to serve along in the Divine Service with attendance of 383. Also, one soul sealed and four sisters received the ministry of Deacon.
